When you disembark at Douglas Port ferry terminal, you are already in the heart of the city, with the port being situated at one end of the harbour.

For those with luggage or who do not want to make the journey on foot, there are taxis waiting and a bus route supplies buses every 15 minutes, with services following a route into the city and beyond.


Travel by Bus and Shuttles


There is a regular bus service to and from Douglas from various locations around the island. The Douglas Bus Station is situated on Lord street, close to the ferry terminal, although some buses set passengers down directly at the Sea Terminal to connect with departures.

Car Hire and Road Travel


To reach the port by car, you need to approach Douglas via the A1 from the west; the A2 from the north; and the A5 from the south. The island is compact; meaning no journey to the port should take more than 45 minutes from any destination island-wide.

Car hire is available in Douglas city centre, while hire companies will be happy to meet you at the port with a vehicle. Trains and Rail Travel


The Southern Steam train runs the length of the east coast from Douglas to Castletown, stopping at Port St Mary in the south and Ramsey in the north. The main rail station in Douglas is situated close to the port. Ideal for a daytrip, tourist should not miss a journey on the Manx Electric Railway, which takes passengers from Douglas along the east coast to Laxey.

Car Parking


Short-term and long-term pay-and-display parking facilities are on hand near to the Sea Terminal in Douglas, with very reasonable day charges and a maximum stay of one month.

Travel by Taxis


Taxis are almost always available and waiting for arriving ferries at all hours. They can be found outside the exit of the terminal. An information board inside the terminal also provides numbers to call for taxi services.
